Best Beaches Near Washington DC for the Surfer in You

Contrary to the popular notion that Winter is Coming, for once, Summer is coming. I’d like to think that way. I’d like for all the harshness of the winter to pave way for the beautiful summer. The American summer, where the sun shines and it’s all bright.

When I think of these beautiful summers, the first thing that comes to my mind is beaches. Beautiful sandy shores with waves crashing. Waves. Did I say waves?

Oh, shoot. Now I’m thinking about surfing.

This, right here, is my train of thought. Everything comes back to surfing. I have the heart of a surfer. Ugh.

I live in Washington DC. If you’re in DC or are visiting and believe there’s a surfer in you, you should definitely check out these beautiful beaches nearby. You’ll be blown by the beauty and the scope of adventure here.

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Rehoboth Beach is easily one of the most popular beaches for D.C. locals to scoot off to for a weekend.
Ocean City, Maryland
Easily one of the most popular ocean towns in the Mid-Atlantic. The town of 7,000 swells to the second-largest city in Maryland during the summer.
Assateague Island, Maryland and Virginia
This is a nature-lover’s beach getaway, home to more than 300 wild ponies and zero hotels.
Cape May, New Jersey
Well, it doesn’t quite look like it did in the 1930s or ’40s (pictured here), but Cape May is still known for its iconic Victorian houses.
Bethany Beach, Delaware
Often considered the younger, quieter sibling to Rehoboth Beach, Bethany stands out on its own as the super-friendliest of the Delmarva beaches.
