Best Burgers in NYC – Part 2

Burgers are the grits of fast food. They exist anywhere and everywhere. But a good burger is very difficult to find! Well, especially one that would make you want to travel 50 miles that way to get one more bite of that corpulent goodness!

What makes a burger a good one often resonates in the sauce used to accompany that mince or breast patty! Mayonnaise, although delicious, can sometimes ruin the subtle flavour of the grub.

But when it comes to this fast food, you have got to try every kind! The usual, the cheap, the quirky and the luxury ones!

Here’s a list of some of the best burgers in New York City, exclusively:

1. Raoul’s

180 Prince St, New York, NY 10012, USA

Raoul’s gives you that delicately placed french burger, with bang on flavours! This one is accompanied by watercress, au-poivre sauce, cornichos and really deliquesce cheese similar to brie. Even with this soft french touch, the burger packs a meaty punch with a char so good, you know the kitchen has been in its place for a very long time. You can literally taste the experience of the chef that prepared it. Be sure to be at the bar at night, as only 12 of these are assembled in the kitchen during evening hours!

2. Virginia’s

647 E 11th St, New York, NY 10009, USA

This burger just might be the best burger in the East Village! The most talked about thing here is the burger that’s off the menu. Shh…You can find it only at the bar. The patty is basted in, what we can only assume, sticks and sticks of butter, the simplicity of its execution is what makes it amazing. Simple ingredients like cheddar cheese and onion jam make this little burger the beast of the East!

Now that you know their secret, get your hands on it!

3. Houseman

508 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10013, USA

Anyone for a potato bun? Potato buns are excellent, made by replacing a portion of flour for potato flour or real potatoes in your usual bread recipe, and, here, the perfect this Houseman burger. The burger consists of two thin patties, charred to perfection, some beautiful Swiss cheese, a black gravy like mass which is mainly caramelised onions and grilled mushrooms. There is no sauce, per se, but the beautiful juices of the beef and the melting cheese are enough to satisfy. The fries on the side are crispy, thick and perfectly seasoned.

A lot of my friends take the bus to New York, just for a taste of these beauties!
