The Cheesecake was invented in ancient Rome where the romans mixed a copious amount of honey in their feta and baked it. The recipe of the cheesecake had been through hell and back and the result in today’s time is pretty frickin’ delicious!
It is said that whoever tried the cheesecake in Rome, at that time, would try and create their own rendition of the sweet, fluffy cake. And this carried on for several years before it reached the great country of America.
Now served in over 2500 of New York’s restaurant, the cheesecake has survived the test of time and is waiting for you to devour it. Trust me, these will make your bus trips to NYC worthwhile.
Here’s a list of some of the best Cheesecakes you could try when in town:
Junior’s was opened in the year 1950 and has since been providing the city with its (allegedly) best cheesecake. The chefs and bakers at Junior’s let the cake sit out for 48 hours before its ready to go into sale to really experience the pungent and distinct taste that the original New York Cheesecake must provide. Don’t believe it? Go try a slice for yourself!
2. Peter Luger Steakhouse
Peter Luger Steakhouse sells out one of the densest, creamiest and delicious cheesecakes in New York City. Often mistaken for the one at Junior’s this one has a heavier texture and is lighter on the pungency, compared to them. The cheesecake is one you would go for over and over, and yes, it comes with a generous topping of whipped cream!
3. Eileen’s Special Cheesecake
If the place has cheesecake in its name, you know its gonna be good! Eileen’s Special Cheesecake does have something really special about it. The texture is light and creamy but also is crumbly from the graham cricket base it has. This one is an Italian-German fusion so I’m guessing there’s another cheese involved apart from the cream cheese!
