The First Date is the probably the most memorable experience for two people in love. It is the very beginning of your journey with the other person. Like first impressions, first dates can make or break your potential relationship. There is a lot of pressure riding to get it right. What if they get bored? What if they don’t like it?
If first dates are no longer traditional, should the planning of them be as well? Because finding the best place can be pretty overwhelming, here’s a list of places to help you plan your first date:
1. Lovers of Today
This cute little basement bar is a great place to take your date if they like to drink. The interiors are nice and cosy with oversized sofas, tumbledown flower arrangements and luxurious decor. Their cocktails have funky bohemian names and all of their liqueurs are house-made and delicious! Although it could be tough to find this place, it’s definitely worth checking out.
What if there exists a place that offers you a show, a great icebreaker and a meal full of cheesy goodness? Raclette does that for you. Named after a famous Swiss cheese, it delivers you just that, with a twist. The server comes to your table with an enormous half wheel of raclette, heats it up right in front of you and scrapes off a layer of bubbling gooey cheese right on your plate.
3. Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Maybe its cliche but there’s nothing more romantic than a rose garden. Visit The Brooklyn Botanic Garden for an enchanted first date experience and explore the beautiful flora which is a feast for all your senses. The Shakespeare Garden is home to forget-me-nots, peonies, tulips and dozens of other pretty flowers, Cranford Rose Garden harbours the wonderful roses and statues, and The Cherry Walk is the ideal place for a lovely stroll with your special somebody.
4. Nitehawk Cinema
Is taking someone on a movie date a little too basic for you? Well, try Nitehawk Cinema! Here you can chomp down burgers, juicy fried chicken or corn dogs while watching the newest releases the rest of New York is watching in boring old theatres. The popcorn here is exceptional, not your usual over salty theatre kind, and most definitely worth your money. Gourmet snacks, latest flicks and big comfy chairs, what else do you need for the perfect first date?
