Budget Friendy Food Places in New York

New York City is one of the most amazingly diverse cities in the world. Whether you’re on a budget trip or a lavish vacation, the city welcomes you with open arms, letting you become a part of it and take priceless memories away with you.

Food in New York is a blessing and dining on a dime is n every New Yorker’s DNA. If you’re looking to save a few dollars but have the authentic New York experience, there could be a list of places you could eat at that will cost you significantly lesser and keep you as happy as your typical restaurant!

Here’s a list of places to find cheap eats, good for the heart, soul and the pocket:

1. Shake Shack

691 8th Ave, New York, NY 10036, USA

This mecca of fast food is easy to spot anywhere in the city, a favourite place to eat between tours and exploring the iconic and beautiful buildings of New York. Their amazing burgers, crinkle fries, milk shakes, lemonades and frozen custards are all the refreshment you need that’s budget friendly as well as wholesome.

2. Nom Wah Tea Parlour

13 Doyers St, New York, NY 10013, USA

This might just be the most authentic dim sum experience you can have in the city. Nom Was have been in business since 1920, rolling out dumpling and buns with the same delicious recipe. Be sure to try their shrimp dumplings, the classic egg rolls and fried dumplings! You are guaranteed to transcend and go to dumpling heaven after your first bite!

3. The Arepa Lady

7702 Roosevelt Ave, Queens, NY 11373, USA

You can find a lot of street eateries at Roosevelt Avenue but only one of these female hawkers is known as The Arepa Lady. An arepa is a flat cake made out of cornmeal or maize flour, most famously made in Venezuela. The Arepa Lady’s corn cakes are buttery and have a cheesy centre. Do try their Shish Kebabs and Cheese pockets with chorizo and garlic sauce!

I visit these places with my friends who come to visit me right after their bus trips to NYC. Light on the pocket, smooth on the tongue and memorable for the soul.
