There is something about books that pulls us back to them. In the age of internet and smartphones, there are some of us who are still dedicated to the concept of books. The smell of a new book, the paper cuts and the sound of pages flipping. Nothing can ever beat that. I don’t find a lot of time for reading but I squeeze in some time on my daily bus from NYC to DC.
In the last edition of this blog, we wrote about some amazing books. Here’s to some more brilliant pieces of art that carry on the spirit of us readers!
- Sunburn – Laura Lippman
There’s a thing about mystery novels. Once they grab your attention, they don’t let you go. You’re thoroughly consumed by the thoughts, the characters and the plot. This is one such book. Laura has done exactly that with her book. You can clearly see Laura’s experience as a reporter throughout the course of the book. This is one book that will keep you guessing. You’ll just wonder whether every incident is an accident or an intended act. Oh, isn’t that just exciting?
2. The Elizas – Sara Shepard
Sara Shepard is best known for her bestselling young adult series, Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game, both of which have even turned into television shows and are doing exceptionally well, globally.
Sara’s writing opens up elements of juvenility and adulteration often in the same timeline giving the reader a close and personal relationship with all her characters, relatively.
The Elizas is about the protagonist Eliza Fontaine, a novelist who is wrongly accused of trying to commit suicide, and her rescuer is her only witness. As the story progresses, she finds herself in search of the truth and losing her memory and sanity, alike. Thrilling!
