OurBus is introducing several new pop-up routes in Texas, over a 5 day period during Thanksgiving.
San Marcos, College Station, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, and Oklahoma City, OK will be the routes served by this new pop-up. Additionally, the routes will run for five days, that is, 11/20, 11/21, 11/22, 11/23, 11/24 and 11/25. The reason for this venture is to involve new partners, tap into the vast demand typically present during the holiday season and also gain experience on the market potential of each particular route. Since it is something that has never been done before, a lot of emphases is being put on this fresh new venture where intercity bus service has unveiled a temporary network of this scale, with this being achievable only due to our skill as a company and our technology.
Axel Hellman, OurBus CEO, stated the culture of using trains or buses is not very strong especially for long distance travel in Texas with there being almost no presence of Amtrak and traveling using the intercity bus is a fraction of other states. For instance, For Worth which has a population of approximately a million people has only one intercity bus service since a majority of the people opt to either drive or fly.
Therefore, the setting up of popup will result in the creation of a permanent network in Texas in the long run as well as creating employment opportunities.
Whereas other intercity bus organizations are asset-based and therefore have a fixed operation basis and a restricted number of buses, making it very hard to increase new routes and add additional services at busy periods, OurBus doesn’t. OurBus is different, and with our agile technology, we can work with charter bus companies that are already carrying out operations on the ground in Texas to offer more services and potential.
