If you’ve been following the OurBus site lately, you’re sure to have notice several “pop-up” routes and we wanted to let you know a little more about these.
The pop up concept is not a traditional route with a consistent schedule — rather, a temporary route in a particularly high demand area. We run these routes for a limited time based on the destinations and time of year.
Let’s look at a few of these. We’re serving a new pop up route between serving William and Mary, Old Dominion University and Virginia Commonwealth University, linking these major universities with the big cities of Richmond and DC.
Next up we’ve got a route linking Pittsburgh with DC, serving several intermediary stops along the way. Pittsburgh is an incredibly popular destination for DC locals and this new route will avoid the otherwise 5-6 hour drive.
We know the Ithaca area is rather remote, so we’re introducing new service to Syracuse Airport, a larger airport offering more connections and flights.
Lastly, we’ve got the routes in Texas, including Houston, Austin and Dallas, linking them to Oklahoma City. The inner Texas cities are underserved by inter modal transportation, so we think this route will be popular with locals and travelers alike.
We hope you give this pop up routes a try. As they’re temporary, you may only see them for a limited rime, but depending on ridership and demand, we hope to offer these trips over more dates — and we can only do this with your support!
